Director, Keystone Project

THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF PHILADELPHIA
The Director of Keystone Project, will oversee the Content Specialist of the designated areas. He/She will develop and direct Keystone Area Projects and ensure the quality of instruction for the Keystone assessed courses. He/She will supervise the implementation of supplemental education and project based assessment plans.  This role will require an understanding of data analysis and experience in providing leadership in professional development to ensure effective implementation of all subject areas.

Essential Functions
  • Oversees and directs the activities of staff; develops and directs implementation of Keystone Area Projects and initiatives; develops plans that address continuous student improvement in response to District data.
  • Provides direct support to the content specialist with regard to Keystone assessed courses.
  • Ensures the successful integration of strategies for the RtII/MTSS intervention programs in the Keystone content areas.
  • Oversees and reviews Keystone content and design; researches current practices and models for effective instruction.
  • Plans and coordinates Keystone Supplemental Education and Project Based Assessment Plans.
  • Analyzes PSSA, Keystone and PVAAS data to inform rosters, Supplemental Education and RtII/MTSS (Multi-tiered Systems of Support).
  • Plans and coordinates the delivery of monthly building-based professional development.
  • Coordinates school visits.
  • Ensures that principals, teachers and central staff are equipped with the tools and resources relative to the District-wide areas of focus (Common, Instructional Practices and Literacy).

Demonstrated knowledge of:
  • all aspects of the content and Common Core Standards.
  • components of the Keystone Assessments.
  • key components of curriculum and aligned assessments.
  • the principles, practices and methods of education in the content areas.
  • research related to the field of expertise.
  • supervisory methods and techniques.
Demonstrated ability to:
  • plan and coordinates effective District and school-based professional development.
  • apply research to practical situations.
  • plan and administer strategies for effective system wide staff development.
  • communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Seven years of full-time, paid experience as a regularly appointed teacher in a specific content area.
  • Experience supporting teachers in improving instructional practices, participating in data analysis and providing professional development.

Certificates/Licenses
  • Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania certificate for K-12 or Elementary and Secondary Principal
                                                                    OR

  • Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania certificate to supervise communication for the english specialty
                                                                    OR
  • Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania certificate to supervise math for the math specialty
                                                                    OR
  • Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania certificate to supervise science for the science specialty 

Selection Process
Interviews may be conducted to determine how well a candidate meets the established criteria.  Note that not all qualified candidates may be selected for an interview. The selected candidate must have no anecdotal record on file and have not been subject to any disciplinary action within the past eighteen (18) months, and have an excellent record of attendance and punctuality during the last three (3) years (defined as no more than eighteen (18) occasions of lateness or absence for personal illness in the last three years (3) years with the exception of one extended long-term absence).
