Maintenance Resource Scheduler (General)

Job Summary

Coordinates the ongoing assessment, maintenance, alteration and improvement of District facilities in Facilities Management. Supervises and provides technical guidance regarding the installation, maintenance and repair of building systems in School District facilities. Leads, motivates, monitors and oversees a team of trades-persons to ensure they produce quality work safely and in a timely manner.


Essential Functions:

  • Participates as an active member of the management team; upholds District policies and follows administrative guidelines/procedures and promotes a professional image of the School District.
  • Provides detailed administration of attendance, punctuality, absence leave, payroll, overtime records, discipline and other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Supervises subordinates engaged in repairs, alterations, and installations of building systems.
  • Ensures that the job planning, material and labor planning are accurate and cost effective.
  • Reviews plans, interpret drawings and specifications; provides labor and material cost estimates of proposed activities or projects.
  • Participates in the coordination and planning of departmental activities and aids in developing and implementing timetables to achieve short and long-term goals.
  • Manages contracted services related to the department.
  • Creates daily, weekly and monthly work schedules in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college or university in mechanical, electrical or structural engineering, construction management, architecture or a related field.
  • Two years of full-time, paid, professional experience in the facilities maintenance field related to large public or commercial buildings, one of which have involved supervising personnel engaged in repairs, alterations, and installations of building systems and has included using a computerized maintenance management system.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six years of full-time, paid experience in the facilities maintenance field related to large public or commercial buildings, three of which have involved supervising personnel engaged in repairs, alterations, and installations of building systems and has included using a computerized maintenance management system.
 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


Demonstrated knowledge of:

o   building maintenance, repair and construction in a large public or industrial facility.

o   materials, methods, terminology, equipment and tools used in maintaining District facilities.

o   supervisory methods.

 

Demonstrated ability to:

o   lead, motivate and develop subordinates.

o   work independently without constant instruction.

o   prioritize daily tasks and manage time effectively.

  • maintain a service-oriented environment by exhibiting a professional appearance and positive attitude.

o   monitor and maintain departmental productivity.

o   evaluate and make ongoing assessment of projects.

o   Analyze and resolve problems in a timely manner.

  • use and operate a personal computer.
  • use Microsoft Word, Excel and electronic mail.
  • use CMMS.

o   communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

o   establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Certificates/Licenses
  • Possession of a proper class license valid to operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to and during tenure of appointment.

 

Selection Process

Selected candidates will participate in an interview process.  Please note that not all qualified candidates may be selected for an interview. The selected candidate must have no anecdotal record on file and have not been subject to any disciplinary action within the past eighteen (18) months, and have an excellent record of attendance and punctuality during the last three (3) years (defined as no more than eighteen (18) occasions of lateness or absence for personal illness in the last three years (3) years with the exception of one extended long-term absence).
