Job Description

M-DCPS is partnering with FIU to create the Booker. T Washington (BTW) Senior High School Planetarium initiative. The BTW Planetarium initiative plans to replicate the success of the Education Effect partnership between Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) and Florida International University (FIU) in the Liberty City community. The BTW Planetarium initiative will leverage community partners (Lennar Corporation), FIU and M-DCPS to strengthen an existing Engineering Academy and to develop an Astronomy Academy for the BTW community for the 2014-15 school year.


The purpose of the BTW Planetarium initiative is to provide students with a challenging curriculum that will expose them to critical thinking, technology, mathematics, science, Research Opportunities, Advanced Placement, Project Lead the Way (PLTW) engineering courses and Dual Enrollment throughout their high school years.  


This Curriculum Support Specialist position will be responsible for managing the planetarium and related curricula. Applicants must have a strong background in science, proven record of teaching success, and be willing to take on new challenges.
