Primary Role and Purpose
Provide students with appropriate educational
activities and experiences that will enable them to fulfill their potential for
intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Help students develop the
skills necessary to be a productive member of society.
Qualifications

Texas Certified Teacher and/or Highly Effective
o Physical Education EC - 12
·
Current CPR certification
·
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training, preferred
Education
·
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school, required
Skills
·
Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
·
Capable of instructing students and managing their behavior
·
Exceptional organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Experience
·
Minimum of 3 years of certified teaching experience, preferred
·
Minimum of 1-year Coaching experience, preferred
Responsibilities and
Duties
Instructional
Strategies
·
Oversee athletic
activities, contests, and practice sessions to provide student growth in athletic
skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship
·
Design, write,
and use lesson plans that conform to the Charter’s curriculum. Ensure written plans
are submitted for review on a weekly basis to school principal on or before due
date with appropriate TEKS and details of structured physical education activities.
Ensure lesson plans show modifications for differences in student learning
styles.

Teach instructional
subjects according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, Charter
policies and administrative regulations
·
Implement
appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and
equipment to ensure comprehension of learning styles and student needs
·
Collaborate with school
staff to ensure individual plan is met that will ensure academic development of
student athletes; no-pass no-play model, in some cases
·
Organize and
manage field-day events, scheduling, and materials for this annual on-campus
event
·
Employ technology
practices to strengthen the instructional process
Growth
and Development
·
Help students assess and enhance their study methods and habits
·
Produce formal and informal testing to evaluate student success
·
Develop
motivational strategies to encourage students who are not athletically inclined
·
Coordinate and manage extracurricular duties as assigned. Sponsor outside
activities approved by the school principal.

Serve as an example for students, support mission of Charter
Classroom
Management and Organization
·
Develop competition performance criteria to assess student’ athletic
abilities – initially and on an ongoing basis
·
Prepare classroom to enhance learning and to aid in the physical, social,
and emotional development of students
·
Control student behavior in agreement with the student handbook
·
Ensure necessary and reasonable measures are taken to protect students,
equipment, materials, and facilities
·
Keep informed and enforce student eligibility criteria for
extracurricular participation
·
Design and implement an ongoing evaluation of coaching techniques and
methods of the program and make adaptations based on results
·
Aid in choosing books, equipment, and instructional materials
·
Maintain pavilion cleanliness and condition, as needed. Sweep and remove debris
from pavilion floor, walkways, and railings that may cause potential injury to
students and staff
Communication
·
Establish communication rapport with parents, students, principals, and
teachers through conferences
·
Create and maintain a professional relationship with colleagues,
students, parents, and community members
·
Present information accurately through clear communication skills (verbal
and written)
Professional
·
Enrich job skills through professional development activities

·
Keep up-to-date and abide by state and charter regulations and policies
for classroom teachers
·
Gather, manage, and file all reports, records, and other documents
required

Be active in faculty meetings and
assist in staff committees, as necessary
Supervisory
Responsibilities
·
Produce and oversee teacher aide and volunteer assignments
·
Supervise process of cleaning, repairing, and maintaining all athletic
equipment. Notify administration if new items are to be purchased
