Job Description
Position: School Bus Driver
Dept./School:Transportation/High School
Schedule: 20 hours/week

Primary Purpose
Under direct supervision of the principals, the school bus driver will be responsible for safely transporting students from New Frontiers Public Schools to the Frank L. Madla Early College High School at Palo Alto College in the morning and return students to New Frontiers in the afternoon daily. Bus Driver will on occasion transport students and other personnel to and from other designated locations. 

Qualifications
  • Education / Certifications: High School Diploma or GED, Valid Texas CDL (Class B with Passenger and School Bus endorsement,) No record of DUI convictions in the past 10 years, Safety Training Certificate 
  • Must be able to pass DOT mandated physical exam.  Must pass pre-duty and randomly administered drug and alcohol tests.
  • Special Knowledge/Skills:  Must be 21 years old.  Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.  Acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas Education Agency and the Department of Public Safety.

Major Responsibilities and Duties 
- Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses.
- Maintain safety precautions when students are boarding and departing the bus.
- Maintain appropriate student management and report student incidents to the appropriate supervisors.
- Follow the assigned route and adhere to set schedules.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and submit work orders as necessary,
- Communicate with department personnel, school personnel and parents about student behavior while on the bus.
- Keep the assigned bus clean and fueled.
- Properly operate all assigned communications equipment.
- Report all accidents, vehicle damage and student injuries as they occur.
- Complete and submit all required reports and documentation.

  • Physical/Environmental Demands: Continual sitting, reaching, and repetitive hand/arm movements.  Ability to work indoors and outdoors; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes.

  • Must be punctual, maintain an excellent attendance record, work shifts with minimal advanced notice

Position: Cafeteria Food Service
Dept./School: Cafeteria/K-8 & HS
Schedule: 20 hours/week            

Primary Role and Purpose
To ensure the cafeteria meals are properly prepared and served according to the Child Nutrition Program which is mandated by the State and Federal Guidelines. Assists in preparing, cooking, and serving food in the district school cafeteria.

Qualifications  
Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check

Education  
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) preferred

Skills Required  
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures 
- Knowledge of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP)
- Ability to understand and follow instructions with standardized recipes, food preparation, and safety procedures
- Ability to operate large and small kitchen equipment and tools
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations
- Ability to interact with fellow staff members
- Ability to maintain personal appearance and hygiene
- Ability to follow instructions and respond to supervisor direction and take responsibility
for own actions.
- Ability to meet challenges with resourcefulness and generate suggestions for improving
work

Experience
Minimum of 2 years of restaurant or cafeteria experience
 
Responsibilities and Duties 
- Must be punctual and maintain an excellent attendance record
- Prepare and serve quality food according to meal schedules, uniform recipes, departmental policies and procedures
- Practice and promote portion control and proper use of leftovers
- Store and handle food items and supplies and maintain a clean and organized storage and worksite area
- Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety standards
- Follow established procedures to meet high standards of cleanliness, health/safety and reports any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately
- Clean and maintain food service equipment and facilities 
- Perform other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Lifts 20-35 pounds frequently, 10-15 pounds occasionally, more than 40 pounds infrequently with assistance. Continual standing, walking, pushing, and pulling; frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, and climbing (ladder), moderate lifting and carrying; moderate exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
