Organizational Overview:
Jefferson County Outdoor Lab Schools give 6th grade students the unique opportunity to explore subjects such as earth science, life science, water systems, archery, and astronomy. Experientially, students are engaged in problem solving, team building, decision-making and social interaction. Jefferson County operates the program from two sites; Windy Peak is located just south of Bailey, Colorado and Mount Evans is located west of Evergreen, Colorado.
Position Overview
Interns will instruct classes in one or more subjects: Biosphere, Geosphere, Hydrosphere, Navigation, Archery, Low Ropes Initiatives, History, and Astronomy, to sixth grade students. They will co-teach with classroom teachers and high school leaders. They will manage daily operations such as equipment room. Interns will receive 2.5 elective credits and a letter grade if enrolled as a high school student in Jeffco Public Schools. Three hours of college credit in outdoor education will also be completed through Red Rocks Community College.
Essential Job Functions
Hours: +40 Monday through Friday
Pay: This is an unpaid internship. Opportunities for pay are offered for hopper (kitchen) work.
Room and Board: Living on site is a required during internship. Interns will be housed with students in bunks.
