Job Description

Primary Role and Purpose

To ensure the cafeteria meals are properly prepared and served according to Child Nutrition Program which is mandated by the State and Federal Guidelines. Assists in preparing, cooking, and serving food in district school cafeteria.

 

Qualifications  

·         Must have a satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check

 

Education 

·         High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) preferred

 

Skills 

·         Knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures

·         Knowledge of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP)

·         Ability to understand and follow instructions with standardized recipes, food preparation, and safety procedures

·         Ability to operate large and small kitchen equipment and tools

·         Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations

·         Ability to interact with fellow staff members

·         Ability to maintain personal appearance and hygiene

·         Ability to follow instructions and respond to supervisor direction and take responsibility for own actions

·         Ability to meet challenges with resourcefulness and generate suggestions for improving work

 

Experience

·         Minimum of 2 years of restaurant or cafeteria experience

             

Responsibilities and Duties

·         Prepare and serve quality food according to meal schedules, uniform recipes, departmental policies and procedures

·         Practice and promote portion control and proper use of leftovers

·         Store and handle food items and supplies and maintain a clean and organized storage and worksite area

·         Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety standards

·         Follow established procedures to meet high standards of cleanliness, health/safety and reports any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately

·         Clean and maintain food service equipment and facilities

·         Perform other duties as assigned

 

 
Additional Information
Hourly Rate: Starting at $10.50 - $13.00
Full-Time Position: 197 Days
