Job Description
SUMMARY Provide administrative and educational support for Early Learning programs and services. Implement department policies and procedures and assure compliance with federal and state regulations related to Early Learning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Provide professional development and technical assistance to schools, intervene and resolve problems with parents, students, staff, and community in collaboration with building principals.

Coordinate staff and professional development initiatives.

Human Resources: Oversight of HR Technician. Conduct interview process; provide interview questions and assist with interviews. Develop and implement creative strategies to attract and retain qualified and professional employees, including preparation of advertisements as appropriate. Analyze recruitment results and proactively develop recruiting strategies, including working with teacher preparation programs as appropriate. Manage the employment processing for Early Learning positions for multiple schools. Work with Employment Services and Human Resource Technicians. Oversee performance evaluation process, provide guidance and direction in all disciplinary actions with Early Learning staff, and develop growth plans and monitor progress. Assist in administration of department and District personnel policies concerning evaluations, promotions, transfers, discipline and grievance solutions.

Implement policy and monitor standard operating procedures for the Program District-wide.

Coordinate instructional programs.

Participate in and chair District wide committees and task forces.

Participate in Early Learning and principal/managers? meetings.

Provide program development and evaluation.

Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE 5-10 years successful experience working in schools. Prefer experience with district wide initiatives.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING Master's degree plus additional course work required for certification or licensure

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Colorado Department of Education Administrator, or Principal licensure, or in progress.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT Basic experience with current technology. Knowledge of assessment data tools and state and federal special education laws and regulations. Knowledge of and experience in processes for problem-solving.

DECISION MAKING Ability to work collaboratively in decision making and ensure decisions are in compliance with regulations.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS Regular contact with classified and professional staff, students, families, school teams, administrators, advisory committees, public agencies, Board of Education, citizen committees, general public, vendors/contractors, and state legislature to exchange information and maintain relationships.
Assistant Director, Early Learning (PK ? 3rd grade)

SPAN OF CONTROL Directly supervises approximately (6) Program Specialists in the Early Learning Department as assigned. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATIONAL DELIVERY Provide direct services for implementation of instructional programs, evaluation of curriculum design/delivery/assessment, and compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

COMPLEXITY OF WORK Work is assigned primarily by the needs of the department and programs. Requires independent judgment and interpretation within the District, federal, and state policies, procedures, and laws that guide the education, programs, and accountability systems. Requires adult facilitation skills, conflict resolution and crisis management techniques.
