Job Description
SUMMARY: Position is responsible for the support of student achievement and demographic databases and data. Including creating reports, pulling data for specialized requests, testing application updates, and providing support to users of the system. Also, will provide District and school administration with information regarding the strategic plan, accreditation, State and Federal reporting and accountability requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Analyze and develop databases programs to present achievement and other student data to District leadership, principals and staff. Information is pertinent for use in strategic plan, accreditation, State and Federal reporting and accountability requirements.

Manage State Assessment Student Biographical Data submissions for State and Federal reporting. Collect, compile, verify, communicate, and submit student biographical data in accordance with State requirements.

Develop, maintain and provide data analysis and reports for schools and the District in accordance with District, State, and Federal regulations/law.

Prepare data reports supporting department presentations.

Proof and verify data to maintain strict data integrity. Provide application testing and data validation for departmental initiatives as well as IT upgrades.

Provide customer support for departmental data and reporting tools. Investigate and analyze data and application issues, facilitating the communication process between stakeholders as well as the handling of service tickets.

Fulfill custom data requests, following FERPA and HIPAA guidelines, for district, university, and other internal/external research entities.

Provide documentation, user support/training, and validation of external vendor software applications and develop data processes to import/export student and assessment information.

Support the Adequate Yearly Progress appeals process by investigating/analyzing, calculating, and documenting this process in accordance with Federal reporting requirements.

Support the ordering of student assessment materials and the verification of their return to external testing vendors.

Support fellow departmental employees through technical training and process automation when determined necessary.

Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: High school diploma/GED required, plus post-secondary courses in business or vocational school equivalent up in two years of college.

EXPERIENCE: 2 - 3 years of experience in spreadsheet applications (Excel), database applications (Access), database development, and management.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT: Position requires excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal skills, basic math and analytical skills. Requires advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and Access) and Infinite Campus at time of hire. Experience with statistical software Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and SQL Reporting Services a plus. May be required to take the District Skills Assessment Test as part of the application process.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS: Requires valid Colorado Driver's License and auto insurance upon hire.

SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITY: The position has no supervisory responsibilities. Position will serve as a technical resource regarding statistical data as it relates to a specific area.

CONTACTS: Position requires daily contact with persons within/outside department/building to negotiate controversial and/or confidential matters. Occasional contact with parents, vendors/suppliers, and the Colorado Department of Education to negotiate controversial and/or confidential matters, and with students and the general public to negotiate controversial and/or confidential matters.

SAFETY TO SELF AND OTHERS: High exposure to self to repetitive motion injuries due to keyboarding and low exposure to self to cuts and bruises due to typical office accidents.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Position may require occasional contact with equipment (forklifts, pallet movers), airborne fumes (vehicle exhaust) and outdoor weather conditions, when working at CSAP warehouse. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

MENTAL FUNCTIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to analyze and synthesize. The employee is frequently required to compare, communicate, compute, evaluate, use interpersonal skills and compile. The employee is occasionally required to copy.

JUDGMENT AND DECISION MAKING: Work is assigned by department leadership and project planning teams. Typical decisions include the review and corrections to ensure the integrity of data. Decisions also involve how to fulfill custom data requests from department databases. Decision-making is guided by District Policies and department procedures. Decision making my require collaboration with supervisor, Division of Instruction departments, and Colorado Department of Education. Errors in decision making could lead to the communication of inaccurate data or reports, resulting in loss of confidence in the department, unit, school or embarrassment to the District and loss of District/school accreditation status. Supervisor is occasionally involved in decision making.

DIVERSITY OF DUTIES: Duties require cross training in department policies, procedures, and organization: may also require budget and/or accounting cross training. Duties and actions impact individuals within the department and/or building, District, State accreditation and No Child Left Behind. This position will crossover the District on a daily basis.
