Job Description

Primary Role and Purpose:

Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, the custodian will assist in the attainment of campus and district goals through the provision of effective and efficient custodial service.

 

Qualifications/ Education:

·         Eighth (8) grade completion or GED certificate

·         Must pass a background criminal history check

 

     Skills: 

·         Manual skills necessary to perform custodial work

·         Ability to follow instructions and work effectively with minimum supervision

 

     Experience:

·         Minimum of 1 year – preferred in an academic setting

             

Responsibilities and Duties:

·         Maintain a clean and sanitary environment in all classrooms, offices, and restroom areas including outside areas and all other rooms/facilities at assigned locations in accordance with campus/district office procedures

·         Open and secure buildings properly

·         Ensure that heating and ventilating equipment work properly

·         Make minor repairs such as change light bulbs, etc.

·         Notify Supervisor of major repairs required

·         Empty trash and garbage containers

·         Mop and wax floors and/or vacuum carpets

·         Clean and polish furniture and other fixtures

·         Exercise particular care to clean areas occupied and not accessible during the day

·         Assist in the cafeteria as needed

·         Mow yards/grass around building and remove debris and litter from grounds

·         Maintain and clean equipment used for the maintenance of the school

·         Abide by policies established by federal and state laws that apply to charter schools, Texas Department of Health rules that apply to charter schools, Commissioner’s Rules that apply to charter schools and charter policy in health services area

·         Abide by all charter routines and regulations

 

Communication

·         Create and maintain a professional relationship with co-workers, students, parents and community members

·         Present information accurately through clear communication skills

 

Professional

·         Enrich job skills through training

 

Other

·         Must be punctual and maintain an excellent attendance record

·         Keep up-to-date on and abide by state and charter regulations

·         Gather, manage and file all reports, records and other documents required

·         Be active in faculty meeting and assist in staff committees as necessary

 

Physical Demands

·         Frequent:  standing, walking, climbing (stairs, ladder, scaffold, or ramps), stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pulling, pushing, reaching, speaking clearly and distinguishing colors

·         Frequent:  lifting, carrying and lowering light – under 15 pounds

·         Intermittent:  lifting, carrying and lowering moderate – 15-44 pounds

·         Occasional:  lifting, carrying and lowering heavy – 45 pounds and over

 

Additional Job-Related Duties:

·         Maintain control in stressful situations

·         Extended hours may be required

·         Some lifting may be required

Starting $11.00 per hour
Work 234 days per year
Off on major holidays, one week for Thanksgiving, two week for Christmas, one week for Spring Break
