Job Description

Primary Role and Purpose:

Provide software, hardware and network support to employees on a daily basis. Must have the ability to work in a fast paced deadline orientated environment.  The Information Technology (IT) Specialist will be flexible, proactive, resourceful, efficient, and team oriented, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Strong written and verbal communication skills, decision making ability and attention to detail are essential. The IT Specialist will have a thorough understanding of the District’s mission by teaching the latest technology to staff, students and parents when needed. There may be times when extended working hours will be required.


Oversight of website, office 365 email solution and network administration

Oversight of overall campus technology with trouble shooting skills and the ability to resolve problems in a timely manner

Must be willing to utilize personal vehicle to pick up IT supplies and ship IT related packages.

Will serve as a member of the technology committee by assisting with development, coordinate goals, and implementation of the technology plan

Will serve as a member of the ERATE committee

Records Manager for document archival, retrieval and record retention requirements

Work with minimal supervision

Maintain confidentiality at all times

USAC Erate competitive bidding, RFP and application filing. (preferred)

 

Education:  

Associate’s  Degree in Computer Technology from an accredited school required

Bachelor’s Degree preferred

COMPTIA A+ certification preferred


Experience:

Must have 2 years of computer & network troubleshooting related experience

Knowledge in computer maintenance

Knowledge of Microsoft Technologies

School experience preferred

Must pass fingerprinting background check (approximately $52.00) paid by employee

Evaluate and support the use of technology to meet the district’s instructional goals.

Diagnose, troubleshoot and solve hardware and software problems on computer systems both onsite and over the phone for work orders assigned

Provide software installation support and reimaging services

Assemble and configure computers (both standalone and networked) to include initial setup and movement of hardware such as printers, scanners, and other peripherals

Install and troubleshoot district supported software

Provide one-on-one assistance to end users

Assess the need, make provision, and order and pick up parts when needed

Troubleshoot data network and associated cabling, equipment and systems

Research technical information – hardware and software

Knowledge of local and wide area networks

Provide first-line of support for the IT Department striving to provide excellent customer service by exhibiting courtesy, concern, knowledge of departmental procedures, and follow-up until all requests are solved

Provide a high ratio of first-line job call resolution and, when necessary, obtain pertinent information for on-site technical support

Coordinate on-going training and staff development for the staff

Assist in the maintenance of the help desk software and in the generation of data and reports for management

Maintain information on the help desk portion and webpage

Provide input on improving customer service on a regular basis

Perform special, computer related projects as assigned by your supervisor or other directors of the district

Assists with the department’s operational and strategic planning, including encouraging innovation, planning projects, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources

Under the direction of your supervisor you will be responsible for the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including telecommunications, servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, peripherals, and office automation equipment

Assists with benchmarks, analyzes, and reports on the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems

Under the direction of the finance director, you will assist in managing financial aspects of the IT department, including purchasing, budgeting, and budget review

Implement IT policies and procedures, including those for security, disaster recover, standards, purchasing, service provision, ERATE and CIPA

Assists with the negotiations with vendors, outsources, and consultant contracts and services agreements

Research technical information – hardware and software

Document work performed in an electronic work order system

Manage users, Import new users, Scan benchmark answer documents and assist with reports for Data Notebook

Region 20 Technology Commitments

Maintain user sheet with user names and passwords and provide quick training at faculty meetings when needed
