Job Description

This position is for a Theater/Drama teacher at the high school level.  The Theater/Drama teacher will be responsible for daily instruction of high school students in theater/drama and the annual student performance(s) in the fall or spring

Special Factors:
The candidate must be proficient in advanced technical theater applications for live theater and music productions. Experience with industry standard light and sound design and a strong working knowledge of drafting and constructing complex sets is essential to this position. The candidate must also effectively manage and supervise student work crews.  In addition to teaching theatre survey and stagecraft courses, collaboration with various performing arts programs is a vital aspect of this position. Additional duties include managing the theatre scene shop and the campus performance calendar.  

Fort Hayes has an extended day and runs 10 periods over 2 days.  The program is an arts integrated program with a strong emphasis on collaborative learning.  There are many school wide efforts that involve the community, both locally and nationally.  The expectation for staff at Fort Hayes is to provide engaging and non-traditional learning opportunities.  Fort Hayes is a college prep school and the faculty is expected to create lessons and activities that go beyond the minimum requirements for the average student.  The ideal candidate must have special interest, and/or expertise in the arts and a demonstrated record of successful integration in the arts. The program is driven by the concept of industry standards and demand that students leave our program competitive globally.  The successful candidate must be proficient with the current technologies that are essential for students to learn, relative to the arts (Mac Technology), and have creative ideas about how we transform student thinking from simply consumers, but instead producers and creators.
