POSITION SUMMARY:  Columbus City Schools is seeking a dynamic leader to coordinate exceptional high school and college learning experiences.  Candidates must possess high-quality expectations for the success of all students primarily at the high school level. The ideal candidate is highly organized, student centered and has the ability to collaborate across teams, departments, and with higher education partners while consistently prioritizing work that accelerates student achievement. This leader will apply his/her practical experience and skills to enhance the conditions for learning where students excel academically, socially and emotionally and work closely with professors and other university administrators in addition to staying up-to-date on program changes.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education-related Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. M.A. preferred.
• Five or more years of related education work experience including supervisory responsibilities at the high school or post-high school level.
• Knowledge of the university structure and ability to create relationships with university faculty, and staff.
• Strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills. Excellent written skills, oral communications and customer service skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• A demonstrated record of management and success in student programming/advising, strategic planning, partnership development, and problem solving.
• Collaborate with district and community partners and maintain positive relationships to facilitate and advance a collective goal of successfully preparing students for college.
• Provides visionary guidance and directs the day-to-day operations in the management of the College Credit Plus program by helping students recognize and achieve their educational goals.
• Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well across a variety of audiences including students, parents, staff, community and university partners.
• Student leadership, including knowledge of college readiness practices, as well as other research-based strategies that successfully raises student achievement.
• Ensure consistent compliance with College Credit Plus requirements including but not limited to assisting in the informational and recruiting initiatives, student scheduling, and grading.
• Practical understanding of how to help students examine school programs, recognize their academic strengths and select appropriate coursework that will advance their post-secondary success.
• Personal sense of accountability around student academic progress, as measured by district, state and national benchmarks. Provides guidance, communicates expectations, and demonstrates ownership of student progress.
• Encourages program innovations, works with university partners in order to secure support services, additional advising, faculty mentors and tutorial services in an effort to increase and sustain positive retention among College Credit Plus participants.
• Report on the progress of student programming to stakeholders by analyzing data, attending committee meetings and compiling requested documents. Analyze student data and make necessary changes and adjustments to increase student success.
• Research material and participate in related professional development, district and university initiatives to ensure that programming is consistent with the district’s overall focus.
• Create and actively promote a comfortable and nurturing environment where every child, teacher and parent is treated with dignity and respect, in a friendly, personalized manner.
• Develops partnerships which draw on the resources and expertise of agencies and community providers and keeps all stakeholders informed of district changes and information centered on student academic needs.
• Capable of responding to crisis situations quickly and effectively using excellent diplomacy, judgment, negotiation and communication skills.
• Complies with state policies and procedures for the education of students identified as having a disability and/or special needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his designee.
