1.0 FTE Continuing Position - 7.50 hours per day - 180 days per year
Position starts the beginning of the 2017-2018 School Year.

Position Summary:

The School Physical Therapist (PT) shall provide therapy/interventions as prescribed in accordance with district and professional standards.  This PT will maintain records and documentation as set forth in the Individual Education Program (IEP) and is subject to ongoing student progress monitoring.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate (ESA) with School Physical Therapist endorsement required
  • Washington State license as Physical Therapist maintained for duration of job required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Successful experience at appropriate grade level preferred
  • Experience and/or training with cultural, ethnic, and language diversity preferred

 

Desired Skills: 

  • Ability to identify students with physical disability, motor deficit, movement dysfunction, and/or developmental delay
  • Ability to communicate and assist school personnel, public agencies, and parents relative to disability
  • Knowledge of implementing physical therapy services in keeping with district and state guidelines
  • Knowledge of an ability in processing therapy programs as prescribed by state law and consistent with district policy
  • Knowledge of student evaluation processes and procedures

 

Essential Job Functions: 

This list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.  Depending upon individual assignment, the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:

  • Provide physical therapy services for students with identified physical disability, motor deficit, movement dysfunction, and/or developmental delay which interferes with learning in the educational environment
  • Program planning for physical therapy or appropriate options for each Individualized Education Program (IEP) as a member of the Multidisciplinary Educational Team (MDT)
  • Treatment and management of the disability based upon results of evaluation which may include direct and/or indirect therapy services
  • Consultation and education on a formal and informal level with medical and educational professionals, paraprofessionals, and parents regarding educational programming and disability information
  • Administration of physical therapy services within the educational environment (documentation, record keeping, equipment, space requirements, supervision of classroom and physical therapy assistants)
  • Responsible for and monitor of the proper fit, use, and adjustment of specialized equipment
  • Research and evaluation for school physical therapy services
  • Maintain consistent presence at assigned worksite and regular work hours
  • Professionally interact with students, staff, and public
  • Establish and maintain professional contacts with students
  • Comply with all district policies and procedures
  • Comply with the Code of Professional Conduct
  • Perform related duties as assigned
