Job Description
Position Title: Special Education Teacher (Special Education Content Coach)
Subject Area: Exceptional Student Education
Location: Bethel County, Washington
FTE: 0.5

Acceleration Academies provides a unique and exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people!  Graduation Candidates (students) are engaged individuals who have reassessed the value of their education and have chosen to earn their high school diploma.  We offer assistance and support to students who have previously left the traditional academic setting but are now eager to earn their high school diploma.
  • Our faculty works with students in small groups or in one-on-one settings, creating opportunities to develop substantial relationships with Graduation Candidates.
  • Our learning environments provide exactly what research shows us students need to be successful: engaging, technologically advanced and personalized.
  • Content Coaches (teachers) receive training and support for Edmentum™, an online instructional platform that provides academic content. Therefore, little time is spent creating lesson plans and Content Coaches can personalize our blended instructional model to fit each Graduation Candidate’s individualized learning pathway.
  • Upon enrollment, Graduation Candidates take placement tests (via Edmentum’s ACCUCESS™) so they do not have to repeat material they have already mastered.
  • Students have access to wrap around support systems such as a Life Coach (Social Worker), a Career Coach (Guidance Counselor), and multiple Graduation Candidate Advocates (Teaching Assistants) on site.  These roles are critical for providing our students with personalized career and college oriented pathways.
  • Come work where you can make a real difference!
Content Coaches are committed to working with our candidates in a unique and highly engaged blended learning model, and understand the lives of urban youth and have a track record or willingness to work successfully with students who face academic and personal challenges.  Content Coaches serve as subject matter experts in their relevant content area(s). Content Coaches are expected to support Graduation Candidates both academically and personally through academic classes, enrichment activities, and through an advisory model. Content Coaches also work collaboratively to develop and teach a competency based blended curriculum where Graduation Candidates demonstrate proficiency in multiple ways including projects, exhibitions, and other alternative assessments. Content Coaches will work with Graduation Candidates individually and in groups.
