Job Summary
Performs entry-level tasks in order to develop skills and acquire knowledge in the areas of accounting, auditing and/or financial analysis.
Essential Functions
Depending on the area of assignment, participates as a trainee in performing the following duties:
· Posts encumbrances, expenditures, revenues and disbursements to general and subsidiary ledgers; makes adjusting entries; reconciles and balances accounts; prepares periodic and special financial statements.
· Participates in audits of District financial operations; confirms expenditures; reconciles cash accounts; checks vouchers against expenditure records for conformance with standard accounting procedures and propriety of transactions.
· Reviews budget requests for conformance with approved programs and previous operating experience; recommends changes as required for conformance to these factors; reviews requests for budget revisions; determines possible effects of such revisions; recommends appropriate action.
Minimum Requirements
Auditing and Financial Analysis Specialties
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, public administration, government administration or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Accounting Specialty
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university prior to the date of appointment. Degree must be in accounting/finance or business administration with a minimum of 24 credits in accounting.
