Job Description

Provides professional development, technical assistance, and resources to support the implementation of the Educator Effectiveness system as outlined by ACT 82. Provides professional development on the use of multiple data sets to improve the effectiveness of teacher and student outcomes. Helps principals understand how to connect student performance data with their data related to teacher performance. Oversees the Roster Verification process for the entire District. Coordinates with the PVAAS Statewide Team for the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and other District offices regarding implementation of the Roster Verification process. Supports the Educator Effectiveness initiative to provide training and technical assistance to teachers and administrators through all phases of roster verification.


Essential Functions

  • Provides high quality professional development on the use of data to improve principal and teacher effectiveness.
  • Develops District training and resource materials for using data to increase effectiveness.
  • Provides high quality professional development, consultation, and technical assistance to District administrators on the use and implementation of PVAAS and School Performance Profile (SPP) scores as part of a data informed culture.
  • Develops District training and resource materials for using data to increase effectiveness.
  • Acts as PVAAS District Administrator Account Holder.
  • Oversees the Roster Verification process for the District, including developing an implementation plan.
  • Collaborates with other offices to create policy and implementation decisions around PVAAS Teacher Specific Reporting and Roster Verification.
  • Works directly with Assistant Superintendents and school administrators to successfully complete the Roster Verification process.
  • Provides professional development and coordinates a system of support for school administrators and teachers on Roster Verification.
  • Analyze Teacher Specific Reports in order to improve instruction and student outcomes.
  • Supports all Effectiveness initiatives.
  • Conducts professional learning and development sessions by learning network, grade band, and school type to bolster educator effectiveness and student progress. 
  • Research new trends in education in an effort to keep the organization updated on best practices and 21st Century learning modalities. 
  • Partner with the Office of Academic Supports, the Office of Student Supports, Assistant Superintendents, Principals, and other administrators to ensure the intentional, proactive, and responsive design of professional learning opportunities. 
  • Creates customized professional learning modules and plans. 
  • Assists in coordinating District wide student learning objectives. 
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of:

  • Current practices in Adult Learning Theory and developing effective professional development.
  • Use of data to inform instruction.
  • Act 82 initiatives and SDP’s implementation of the Educator Effectiveness System.
  • SPP Scores and their impact on evaluation scores under Act 82.
  • PVAAS District, School and Teacher Reporting, as well as Roster Verification.
  • Standardized, state, and formative assessment data.
  • PVAAS Methodology and the various reports available to schools.
  • Using technology to maximize efficiency and quality of work during the planning, implementation, and completion of projects and tasks.
  • The PA Core Standards, National Standards, National Association for the Education of Young Children Standards, and Next Generation Science Standards.
Demonstrated ability to:
  • develop effective training materials/resources to improve the effectiveness of teachers and student outcomes.
  • using technology to maximize efficiency and quality of work during the planning, implementation, and completion of projects and tasks.
  • incorporate current research into all aspects of work including the effective delivery of professional development, engaging adult learners, assessment/accountability, teacher evaluation, and the integration of technology into professional development/consultation to incorporate in all aspects of work.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited educational college or university.
  • Five years of full-time, paid, professional educational experience which has included responsibility for conducting professional development sessions in an urban school District.

Selection Process
Interviews may be conducted to determine how well a candidate meets the established criteria.  Note that not all qualified candidates may be selected for an interview. The selected candidate must have no anecdotal record on file and have not been subject to any disciplinary action within the past eighteen (18) months, and have an excellent record of attendance and punctuality during the last three (3) years (defined as no more than eighteen (18) occasions of lateness or absence for personal illness in the last three years (3) years with the exception of one extended long-term absence).
