Job Description

Department: Chief Operating Office        

Reports To:   Administrative Superior


Job Summary


Supervises and provides technical field guidance and support to the trade mechanics in the performance of building maintenance, construction and repairs for School District facilities. Maintains records of all work received, assigned and completed along with all materials used. Work also involves participation in more complex assigned projects. The Maintenance Foreman’s work is performed under the general supervision of the Maintenance Resource Scheduler.


Essential Functions


Minimum Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


Demonstrated knowledge of:

o   the City of Philadelphia Plumbing Code.

o   materials, methods, terminology, equipment and tools used in maintaining District facilities.

o   fire suppression systems.

o   plumbing systems in a large public or commercial facility.

o   occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades.

o   supervisory methods and techniques.

o   safe use and care of the tools of the trades.

 

 Demonstrated ability to:

o  plan, assign, and review the work of trades mechanics engaged in the performance of building maintenance, construction and repair.

o   read architectural and mechanical drawings.

o   interact with District staff in a professional manner throughout the organization.

o   make estimates of time and materials.

o   keep accurate records, coordinate written work requests and work orders, and maintain good inventory records.

o   operate a personal computer.

o   use personal computer software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and electronic mail.

o   use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

o   communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
