Job Summary
Coordinates the
ongoing assessment, maintenance, alteration and improvement of District
facilities in Facilities Management. Supervises and provides technical guidance regarding the
installation, maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic systems
in School District Facilities. Leads,
motivates, monitors and oversees a team of electricians and electronic
mechanics to ensure they produce quality work safely and in a timely manner.
Essential Functions
- Participates
as an active member of the management team; upholds District Policies and
follows administrative guidelines/procedures and promotes a professional image
of the School District.
- Provides
detailed administration of attendance, punctuality, absence leave, payroll,
overtime records, discipline and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Supervises
subordinates engaged in repairs, alterations, and installations of
electrical/electronic systems.
- Ensures that the job planning, material and labor
planning are accurate and cost effective.
- Reviews
plans, interpret drawings and specifications; provides labor and material cost
estimates of proposed activities or projects.
- Participates
in the coordination and planning of departmental activities and aids in
developing and implementing timetables to achieve short and long-term goals.
- Manages
contracted services related to the department.
- Creates
daily, weekly and monthly work schedules in Computerized Maintenance Management
System (CMMS).
- Performs
related work as required.
Minimum Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree program at an
accredited college or university in mechanical, electrical or structural
engineering, construction management, architecture or a related field.
- Two years of full-time, paid,
professional experience in the electrical field related to large public or
commercial buildings,
one of which have involved supervising personnel engaged in repairs,
alterations, and installations of electrical/electronic systems
and has included using a computerized
maintenance management systems.
OR
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Six years of full-time, paid
experience in the electrical field related to large public or
commercial buildings,
three of which have involved supervising personnel engaged
in repairs, alterations, and installations of electrical/electronic systems and
has included using a computerized
maintenance management systems.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of:
o building maintenance, repair and
construction in a large public or industrial facility.
o materials, methods, terminology,
equipment and tools used in maintaining District facilities.
o the
National Electric Code NFPA 70.
o maintaining
electrical systems both high and low voltages in large commercial facilities.
o supervisory
methods.
Demonstrated ability to:
o lead,
motivate and develop subordinates.
o work
independently without constant instruction.
o prioritize
daily tasks and manage time effectively.

Certificates/Licenses
- Possession
of a valid City of Philadelphia Electrical Contractors License.
- Possession of a proper class license valid to operate
a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to and during tenure
of appointment.
